“Bulk Drug Park is Modi Government’s initiative; Congress busy claiming credit: Bindal” “Brutal killing of 19-year-old exposes collapse of law and order in Himachal: BJP” Una, Himachal Pradesh BJP President Dr. Rajeev Bindal on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led state government, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order and administrative failure in the state. Addressing a press conference in Una, Bindal said the brutal murder of a 19-year-old girl in Sarkaghat has shaken the conscience of Himachal Pradesh and exposed the hollowness of the government’s claims on controlling crime and drug abuse. “Crime in itself is condemnable, but the sheer brutality with which the young girl was murdered is alien to Himachal’s culture. While the government claims to have launched a crackdown on drugs, a youth under the influence of narcotics beheads a girl in broad daylight. This exposes the truth behind their claims,” he said. Bindal alleged that since coming to power in 2022, the Congress government has failed to control rising crime. He cited incidents including the gruesome killing of a Dalit युवक in Chamba, multiple murders, gang wars, firing incidents and the growing influence of organised mafias across the state. “The state today is in the grip of chitta mafia, mining mafia, forest mafia, scrap mafia and transfer mafia. The government appears helpless while criminals operate fearlessly,” he said, adding that neither women nor officials feel safe anymore. He also criticised the government for its “insensitive response” to the incident. “A tragedy of this magnitude occurred, yet the government failed to even express basic empathy. This reflects a deeply insensitive administration,” Bindal remarked. Highlighting internal discord within the government, he alleged that there is a “tug of war” between the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, ministers and top bureaucrats. “For the first time in Himachal’s history, governance is paralysed due to infighting at the highest levels. The administrative machinery is in disarray, and the people are suffering,” he said. Turning to industrial development, Bindal asserted that the Bulk Drug Park project in Una is entirely a contribution of the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “This is a 100% centrally driven initiative. The state government only delayed its implementation for three years and is now preparing for ribbon-cutting politics,” he said. He recalled that Himachal’s industrial growth accelerated after the special industrial package announced in 2002 by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under the leadership of then Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. “In contrast, Congress governments at the Centre weakened such initiatives, while the Modi government has once again prioritised Himachal through projects like the Bulk Drug Park and plans to develop India as a global pharmaceutical hub,” he added. Responding to Congress allegations of internal divisions within the BJP, Bindal dismissed them as attempts to divert attention. “If the Congress believes the BJP is divided, they should go for elections immediately. The people will deliver their verdict,” he challenged. Concluding, Bindal said the Congress government has lost the moral authority to remain in power. “Today, Himachal is witnessing not the rule of law but the rule of mafias. The people of the state will give a fitting response,” he said.
